You’ve probably heard me say before that I don’t promise you all the answers. In fact, if you leave with more questions than answers, then I’ve done my job!
Faith is not about having all the answers. It’s about learning to trust, even in the waiting. It’s about believing that God is still working, even when we can’t see it.
One of my favorite reminders comes from Isaiah 41:10 (NRSVue):
“Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.”
God doesn’t promise a perfectly clear roadmap. But God does promise to walk with us every step of the way. That means even when life feels unpredictable, we are still held.
Practical Ways to Find Peace in the Unknown
If uncertainty has been weighing on you, here are a few ways to steady your heart and mind:
1. Shift Your Focus from Clarity to Trust
We often want clear answers before taking the next step. But faith asks us to walk forward even when the whole path isn’t visible. Instead of waiting for perfect clarity, ask: What is the next small step I can take in trust?
2. Anchor Yourself in What You Know
When everything feels uncertain, hold onto what is true. God’s love for you is certain. God’s presence with you is certain. The promises of scripture are certain. Even when circumstances shift, these truths remain.
3. Find Comfort in Prayer and Reflection
When your mind is spinning with “what ifs,” take a moment to pause. Breathe. Pray. You don’t have to come with fancy words—just an honest heart. Something as simple as “God, I don’t know what’s next, but I trust that You do” can be a powerful grounding practice.
4. Lean on Community
Uncertainty can make us want to retreat into ourselves, but we’re not meant to walk this journey alone. Talk to someone you trust. Let others pray for you. Be open about what you’re facing. Sometimes, peace comes through the presence of others.
A Challenge for the Week
If you’re in a season of uncertainty, I want to challenge you to take one step this week. Maybe it’s writing down what you do know about God’s faithfulness. Maybe it’s spending five minutes in quiet prayer instead of spiraling into worry. Maybe it’s reaching out to someone for encouragement.
Whatever you choose, trust that even the smallest steps in faith matter.
I’d love to hear from you—what’s one way you’re learning to trust God in the unknown? Share in the comments or take time to reflect on it in your heart. Let’s walk this journey together.
